I have just taken the OAT last week, and (drumrole).... made a 310. I did poorly on the Quanitative Reasoning and Reading Comprehension. It seemed like I did not have nearly enough time for the Reading Comprehension. I tried to read the questions first and look for the answer in the passage. That worked well for the passage about lasers and alligators but the passage about Prions!!!!!! Holy crap that was tough to read!

Is there a study guide that anybody recommends for the Reading Comprehension and Quanitative Reasoning???

for the QR, get the ARCO GRE/MCAT math review. pay special attention to chapter 4 (word problems section). anyway if u go through the book im pretty sure u'll get above a 350. g'luck

Practice makes perfect. Get a hold of as much reading comprehension/QR practice tests as Possible (Kaplan, TopScore Pro, OAT Achiever etc.) and practice them in a TIMED environment. Don't practice them without timing because what is important is not to learn the material but to improve your speed.

Read science journals or anything in general, at a faster than normal pace everyday until you take your test.

I agree w/ fonziefonz. Reading comprehension was my lowest score and I consider myself a really good writer and great at comprehending what I read (I minored in philosophy for christs sake!). But cry about it all you want, you have to do it. I def suggest doing the practice tests TIMED. If you are fortunate enough to have the dough to pop for those rediculously (and somewhat useless) expensive Kaplan on-line courses, I think they have timed tests on the computer. (I never used those classes even tho I shelled out the money)

RC is soooooooo different on the computer. I also reccomend skipping ahead to other passages if you are having a difficult time with one during the test. I personally ran out of time b/c I stupidly was determined to finish the first passage and took way too long on it. When I got to the other two, I realized my mistake quickly. There were a chinch---- but it was too late. No time. Oh well, I did not bomb it. On the easy passages I was even able to answer a lot of the questions w/o reading. Figure out what works for you but if you don't read, be careful. They try to muck you up and trick you.

Reading comp was my worst score. And just to let you know, I haven't had any trouble 'comprehending' anything in O.D. school. None of their passages reflected what I am doing now remotely.

Well, there was that one visual optics question...
