heh... one of the caterpillars captured and fed by my girl decided to hatch last night. I was curious what it would look like. To make this pharmacy related, I guess studying entomology gets kids interested in science..and perhaps healthcare. I can tell you those caterpillars were voracious eaters.

zpak, that's a lovely butterfly!
did you set him free in your orchard?

He's resting and gaining strength on our flower bed. My daughter is out there protecting him from nearby mockingbirds.

One of my peach trees died right after the harvest. We're all heartbroken.

He's free...

Gorgeous pictures! I especially like the last one. 🙂

Caverject, from a previous post, zpack wrote:

It's a Canon 20D. An older digital SLR. But I think it's the lens that helps take sharp photos. I didn't want to spend thousands of dollars on Canon L lense. So I have a Tamron 28-75 XR Di....which is sharp.

I know I've asked this before, but what kind of camera are you using?

For the eleventy billionth time, it's Canon 20D with Tamron 25-75mm lens.

beautiful pictures......like something you find in a national geographic magazine.

🙂

I was going to ask the same question.

Zpak it does take wonderful real life pictures. I'm sure it cathces spur of the moment actions. I'm going to buy that camera now.

Canon 20D is now discontinued... replaced with 30D. But I think Canon Rebel XTi is just as good as 20D or better. But the key is the lens. The stock zoom lens the camera comes with doesn't really capture sharp images.

Canon L lenses rock. But for now... my lenses are servicing me just fine.

awesome photos!

good lens, too...i enjoy tamron as well as sigma. no need to pony up for the canon stuff.

I hear ya... Tamron is putting out some good product...we're starting to call it the poor man's L lens. I've been looking at the Sigma Zooms... I'll eventually end up with Sigma 170 - 500mm Zoom.....

regarding these Tamron 25-75mm lenses, do you have to buy them separately from the camera??

Very cool Zpak - dr sdn like your photos & he's a real photobug! Unfortunately, his camera is in the shop. He's not so sad though - he's waiting for the new Sony.

I hope he gets it before the spring of next year. I want him to take photos of our son's science project from 10 years ago...things you can do with sprinkler tubing & IV parts. It will give you a heads up on next year.

What happened to the peach tree?????😱 They don't just die out of the blue - did it get a bug or something? I've got a niece who is a plant pathologist - she says the worst thing you can get is a soil fungus - I hope you don't have that:scared:😀.

When you have an SLR camera like his, all lenses are bought separately unless you buy a combo package which usually consists of the camera body and a 28-80 lens (usually from the same mfg)

The new Sony line of cameras are awesome. They bought out Minolta..and I believe they have a full line Minolta lenses. The Sony digital SLR was the camera of th year last year by one of the magazines...

btw, another one emerged last night.

Oh...what the heck did you son make with IV tubings and plastic pipes?? Is it legal?

Come to find out, sudden death of 3 to 4 year old peach trees are common. I haven't pulled it out yet. I think we'll plant a donut peach tree instead...

Did you see any of this kind of action before they turned into butterflies?

I'm pretty sure caterpillars are asexual... 3 more butterflies emerged according to my daughter... I haven't been home to take the pictures.

i agree, i think they are asexual...don't they just metamorphose? with no nooky?

btw, c-ject...i love the french fry cartoon!👍

So I take a picture of the smallest dragonfly I've seen... in my backyard..and it looks like he's sticking his tongue out at me...

Zpack, you should take pictures for National Geographic Mags!

Pooh...thanks for the utmost compliment. However, I really am a novice at best...and there are so many phenomenal photographers out there. Still, photography is a nice hobby when I'm not golfing.. One of these days, I'll get into landscape photography and take pics of golf courses... 👍
