Buy another NBME?

Hey guys, here is my deal.... I took NBME 1 ( supposedly the easy one I found out later according to SDN) 5 weeks out before hardcore studying and got a 226. Since then I have put in 2 weeks of solid studying and am now consistently getting low to mid 70's on UW. I am hard up for cash right now and don't want to shell out another $50 for an NBME. I don't have super high aspirations and would be ecstatic to break 230. Any suggestions? (yeah I know I am cheap)

I've read that some questions resemble NBME.. so it might be worth your while.. stock up on ramen for a week 😉

how long til your test? those are really good UW averages. i don't really see any reason to take another nbme (they are overrated on this forum IMO) unless you want/need more confidence/assurance that you will more than likely score 230+ (which i think u will). by over-rated i mean i think it is imperative to take one, maybe 2, but when people start taking 4 or 5 of them i wonder what they are doing it for other than further confidence. yes, i know the ?s tend to come up again but doing more nbmes only benefits someone who does it on self paced mode, writes out the questions, looks up ones theyre unsure of, etc which most probably do not.

i took nbme 1 pre study too and got a 228. after 3 weeks hardcore, i got a 245 on 6, and mine is in 2 wks. my UW is the same as you or a little worse, all to say, i think you are fine and only take the nbme if you need that mental assurance which i don't think you do. although people on this forum will tell you whole heartedly to take one! 🙂
