I've been looking at housing situations while in dental school and weighing the options. A lot of city houses that are nex to dental schools go for pretty cheap and the monthly mortgage payment would end up being about the same as rent for a similar place to live. Ex) If I were to buy a 3 bedroom house and maybe get roommates I would end up making a 4 year investment of approx $115,000 (assuming a $2400 payment a month split 3 ways) with a guaranted return of something and the potential to actually make some money when I sell the house after school, as opposed to throwing away the same amount of money every month on rent for 4 years.

Im wondering if any current dental students have done this and if its a good idea or too much of a stretch?

A classmate bought a condo at a really good deal with the help of his family. He plans on selling it after graduation. He's renting out a room as well.
