I was hoping to be at a 200 by this week, as my test is in September (aim: 215). I took UWSA 1 last wednesday and got a 195, which I was okay with due to searching this form and seeing that for most people its -10, which means I 'm somewhere between 185-195, which I can live it. However I was told by someone today that its actually a -20 for UWSA1. Now I'm basically freaking out.

Not sure exactly but I know many people who took those UWSA and it overestimated their score significantly. Keep working hard!

Agreed. In terms of the posts I've read over the past several months, very few actual Step scores correlate with the UWSAs. I believe the best correlates are the average of your NBMEs (#1) and %correct first-pass on UWorld (#2).

How does the % first pass in Uworld correlate?

It's nothing concrete. It's just something that I've personally noticed by having read all of the posts from the scores thread this year.

People who get low-80s %correct on the first-pass of UWorld all get 260+. Those getting in the upper-70s tend to get 250s, and those in the lower-70s tend to get 240s. High-80s on UWorld first-pass pretty much guarantees 270+ (I've seen a few), but some who have gotten low-80s have also managed 270+. Therefore, I believe the 80-barrier for UWorld (timed-mode, first-pass) is a substantial milestone, and I believe one should prep as much as possible before touching that QBank for the sake of a strong prediction 2nd to the NBMEs.

The first pass in UWORLD is suppose to be %Uworld (randomed, timed) x2.3+ 84So for me its suppose to be 51%x2.3+84= 201; However after UWSA1 I'm not following that at all.

UWSA1: 251 (2wk earlier)
NBME13: 247 (1wk earlier)
UWSA2: 261 (1wk earlier)

Actual step1: 250

So I wouldnt say it overestimates by too much. Atleast in my case.

Thanks. I actually have been searching through this forum and I have found that your case is actually the norm, where UWSA1 is almost 10 points higher and UWSA2 is between 10-20 (usually 15 points higher). However there is always the exception which is why I plan on taking NBME 11 on Tuesday.

I would also suggest taking nbme 13, I think i actually saw atleast 2-4q's very similar in actual test, possibly more.

I took UWSA 1 three weeks out and got 240. I hit 261 on the real thing, so it wasn't very accurate for me... but I'm not complaining.

I think your best bet, if you're truly concerned, is to do several practice tests, because if you're able to hit around the same score on each one you should be pretty solid on the actual thing.

I'm kind of confused. So I took NBME 3 about 2 weeks ago (16 days, to be exact; I bought it before they took it off the website; does anybody know by the way why they took it off?? why not just leave it on there?), and I felt VERY good about it, but in the end I "just" got 210/450.

Now I finished the UWSA 1 today and I felt kind of BAD about it, like I had to guess a lot of the time between the answers and often thought "what the heck" and I actually felt WORSE than 2 weeks ago. And then I see the results, and it absolutely surprises me: 247/640.

Did anybody else have a similar experience?? I mean it feels good and it shows me I'm going into the right direction, but I do have to say that I'm kind of surprised a little bit... 🙂

For what it's worth, my UWSA 2 was the exact same score as I got on my actual Step 1. I took UWSA 2 about 1 week before my test.

From the research (searching through this forum) there have been several people with +20 scores on there UWSA1, however isn't NBME 3 the test they removed?

Yes, it's the one they removed July 31st. Thanks for the info. I love this forum and the help I can get from you all. ;-)

I don't know... Took it yesterday so it exspires in 2 weeks... But i would say no, you probably can't.
