C in Calculus 1: retake? Advice Greatly Appreciated

I just received a C in calculus 1 in the fall of my sophomore year 1. It's my first C, but it's really bothering me and I am looking for advice as to whether I should re-take it or not. My g.p.a. is a 3.7 with the C included. If I were to re-take it, my previous grade in calculus and the new grade would average together. I'm not too worried about how it will affect my g.p.a., but I'm not sure how medical schools will look at it.

I'm not planning on taking Calculus 2, however I will be taking statistics.

If it helps, here are my math/science grades in college thus far:
Bio 1: A
Bio 1 lab: A
Bio 2: A
Bio 2 lab: A
Env. Bio: A
Env. Bio lab: B
Chemistry 1: A
Chemistry 2: B
Trig: A
Calculus 1: C

Any advice is greatly appreciated!

I'd say retake if you can fit it into your schedule but if not I wouldn't worry about it. A D or F would be a huge deal but if you keep your grades up for the rest of your time at college, I wouldn't even worry about it. Medical schools are not going to penalize you for 1 C in Calc. If it were in Bio I think you'd have a bit more to worry about. Relax, a 3.7 is great. ALSO - make sure you ace stats.

Also, never too soon to start looking at the MCATs 🙂

Just my opinion but I think you should just move on and worry about other classes. A 3.7 is a good GPA; if you keep it there you'll be fine. Either way that C is going to be on your transcript so you mine as well focus on getting good grades in your classes instead of backtracking on a subject that won't come up again in your studies. Lots of people (including me!) have gotten a C without retaking and it hasn't been a problem for netting interviews. I'd look at your study habits and make sure you know what went wrong as you're moving forward.

Technically if I was talking about looking at old MCATs and practicing from them (I was) it would be MCATs, wouldn't it? Also damn, a lot of people have asked that same question.

Either way, freshman year is pretty early to be considering your MCAT. Just do well in classes for now.
