Hey guys,

I'm Pre-Physical Therapy, and just received a C+ in Gen. Chem 1, do I still have a shot at PT school? (My professor was extremely hard, not making any excuses, but I know the material well) All I'm worried about is how bad it'll look, this was my first (and hopefully last) C+ in a pre-req, I'm usually an A or B student. So my questions are, is one C+ in Gen. Chem 1 okay since I'm only in my first year and what GPA should I look forward to mantaining at the very least?

Thanks! 🙂

It is hard to say because you are a first year and you dont have your over GPA/prereq GPA set. I know plenty of people who got in a program with a "C" but they had some some great stats. I can let you know that i am taking Chem 2 and i think Chem 2 is way easier than Chem 1. Chem 1 was bit conceptual :/. If i were you and as you posted (you know the material well), I would take the C and move on to Chem 2 and maybe later retake Chem 1. Iono, some people may disagree. Hope this helps 🙂

I don't think 1 C+ will affect your chances much. Try to get A's on the rest of your requirements. I don't know if your professor curves or not, but if he or she did, a C+ may have been what you put into it. I would recommend tutoring and speaking with the professor in the future should you see yourself struggling. Good luck!

i got a C in chem II and got into a school and waitlisted at 3 others
i also got a C+in physics II lab (yuck)
but i had pretty much A's in everything else... and a couple of B's.
now if you got a C in anatomy then it's another story
just make sure its your last and only C 🙂

i got a C in anatomy & physiology II, am i screwed?
i got B+ in chem 1, A in chem 2
A in physics 1 and 2

You are still competitive with C in Chemistry. Re take if in Anatomy, otherwise you are fine

I got a C+ in Chem 2 and a C+ in Anatomy but I still got accepted.

Granted, I explained that the anatomy course was actually taught at graduate-level. I, like yourself, feel that I did learn a lot even though the material wasn't easy to grasp.

It won't look good, but it won't be the determining factor whether you get into PT school or not. Get A's in the rest of the prereqs, do good on GRE, and get a load of volunteer hours. Also, letter of references counted a lot of me, so get to know your teachers well.
