Hey guys! I currently am a sophomore pre dental student and am having a really hard time with physics 101. I got a C on the first exam and a C+ on the second exam. Should I just resign from the class and keep that R on my transcript or should I stick it out and hopefully do well on the final to get a B- in the class? I will probably retake it over the summer to try and get an A but idk how that will look. I am also taking organic chemistry and that class is also really hard so I don't what 2 bad grades on my transcript during one semester. Also what do you think dental schools will think if I took physics 2 over the summer instead of during my second semester?

Thanks!!

My opinion is to drop physics 101. A drop is better than a low grade, especially because it may hinder your chances at doing well in orgo. Secondly, I don't think it will reflect poorly in any sense if you take physics 2 during the summer. I took physics during the summer my junior year, and no one has mentioned it during any interview. Again, just my opinion!

well you said it yourself... you are going to retake it no matter what. so drop it!

I got a C in physics 2 and did just fine in the application process. My stats weren't that spectacular either. I would say take the C unless you are absolutely positive you can get an A when you retake it.

Drop it and make sure to do better next time. Get a tutor if you need to.

Well if you're going to get a Withdraw (or an R or whatever your school calls it) on your transcript, it might be better to stick it out. One low grade isn't going to kill you, as long as you don't make it a consistent thing and if you decide to retake it, just show that you've learned from it and did a better job. It's better than giving up, I think!
