During my time in undergrad I managed to pull C+ in two quarters of O-chem as well as one in a quarter of Physics. After graduating I'm at 3.1 sGPA and doing upper div post-bacc classes to bring my GPA up to about 3.3 and applying to SMP programs in the fall.

My question is should I retake these pre-reqs during my post-bacc as well? Or hope that As in new upper division courses during the post-bacc and good performance during the SMP would be enough to overshadow their blemish on my app?

A C+ in prereqs generally means you didn't grasp the material, which is bad news for the MCAT. Have you taken it yet? If you did and scored well, there's no point in retaking, since a C+ is still passing. If you haven't taken your MCATs yet, you may want to retake them, since it will make MCAT prep that much more bearable.

Hi, thanks for the response! I have taken the MCAT, got 34 the first time (B/P/V of 12/11/11), and 35 the second (12/8/15), so I don't take retaking Ochem will help me improve my bio score too much.

Yea. those are nice scores, good job! With that being the case, I would recommend taking and acing the "toughest" upper level electives you can handle. My recommendations: biochemistry, molecular biology, cell biology, immunobiology/immunology, neurobiology, genetics. Not only will these help you in courses to come (especially biochemistry), they should help you out with admissions committees.

Generally your numbers each serve their own purpose
-cGPA and sGPA show that you can sustain performance over a long term perod
-MCAT shows that you can perform in a long standardized testing environment

You've shown one. Now show the other.

Why did you take it a second time after getting a 34?

I retook it because i got an L in writing the first time (3rd percentile) and thought that looked pretty terrible. Didn't expect my physical score to drop that much but hey I guess that's why people say not to retake if you don't absolutely have to -.-
