I got a C- in O Chem II and was not allowed to retake it due to my school's retake policy. I still decided to apply this cycle and created a list of schools that accepted biochemistry in place of O Chem II. I had plans to retake the course at another university this fall, but due to financial concerns, I was considering waiting it out and seeing if I get any interview offers. Here are my questions:

1. Since I passed the course, would I have to take the equivalent of my undergrad's O Chem II class, or would any second level O Chem course suffice?
2. I have about 30 schools that either take biochem in place of O Chem II or accept a C- in a prerequisite. Is it valuable to retake the course or should I focus on strengthening other parts of my application since a retake wouldn't really have an impact on my GPA? (I am really just retaking to expand my school list)
3. If I choose to not take the course, how do I remove it from AMCAS and AACOMAS (since I listed the new university and course as "planned" when I submitted)?

4. I'm leaning towards waiting it out and either (a) taking the course in Spring or (b) looking into one year post bacc programs to improve my GPA. I would appreciate some general advice for my situation. I know it's a lot of questions, but any insight would be greatly appreciated! 🙂 Thank you!
1) Any OChem II class will do, even one at a cheap CC.

2) Thirty schools makes for a hefty, if not excessive, application list. I don't see a reason to retake it unless you don't get in anywhere this cycle, and if that's the case, you may need broader stats and EC repair strategies than just retaking one class.

3) For AMCAS, you can't remove it, but med schools don't hold you to Future listed coursework. I don't know about AACOMAS' policy in this respect.

4) You seem to be implying that your cGPA or sGPA are low. If so, why did you apply before doing a postbac?
