Heylo prepharmers!

I received an interview invite from USC today and the interview date is scheduled for Sat Jan. 22. I also received an invite from UOP and scheduled it over a month ago for Fri. Jan.21. I'm waiting to hear back from UCSF and UCSD, the other two schools I applied to. Will these schools take into consideration scheduling conflicts because I know UCSF interviews in Jan/Feb and UCSD interviews in Jan? I really wish I can change my USC interview to another date and not the same weekend as UOP. I think I will be exhausted from flying up for a day and then back, and then driving a couple hours the next morning. But, I'm nevertheless super excited for both these schools! Did anyone face this situation?

Thanks guys!
Tami 🙂

it's not that bad. I took 2 midterms and a lab quiz on Thursday, an interview on Friday up north, took the train and flew down south for an interview Saturday, flew back up north Sunday, had a cell biology midterm Monday, microbiology midterm Tuesday.

Yikes! You were busy! Well, I hope your interviews/exams went well! 👍

Hey Tami,

I have the same problem as yours. I have an interview on 21st for UOP followed by USC on 22nd. I called USC and ask one of the employee's opinion, and she said that re-scheduling is not good since the committee will look at my application again and see if I'm worth it for a re-shedule. Also, she said that since my GPA is only 3.4, then the best thing is take the schedule that they have given me. My final decision is not to re-schedule, since she scared me. Atleast your flying, I'll be driving with my sister from LA.

I haven't receive any confirmation from UCSF and UCSD, so right now I am not worrying about any shedule conflict. I might not even receive one, hopefully I am wrong (hehehe.). Anyways, good luck in your interviews.

Chris

Hm, that's pretty rough. I remember last year USC's interviews were towards the beginning of the month. Good luck with all the traveling.

It's really not that bad. I had back to back interviews too in November. I had a UOP interview on Nov. 5th and then had to fly to LA that same day for a USC interview the next day. It was tiring and yes I didn't get much sleep but I was pretty pumped and ready. I got into UOP but USC put me on their active waiting list...oh well...at least i'm going somewhere...still waiting for UCSD and UCSF though...

I should have taken the December interview for UOP, but I decided to push it till January. Now, I am stuck with back to back interviews. I think what's good about having three interviews on January is that atleast I won't be waisting any deposit (if I get in, but I HOPE i do). So minghoo, do you think that I'll be ok if I drive to stockton and then back to LA? You said that you were SD, but you took the plane. So, does it mean that I will be more SD than you then? I am kinda scared that I might be exhausted during my USC interview, but I was hoping that my sister can drive most of the time when we're coming back to LA.

I am also waiting for the two UCs, but I went over my essay that I sent to those schools and they were not as good as my USC, UOP, and WesternU essays. Most likely I won't get any invites to those schools.

Is it really true that everyone should get a letter (acceptance/rejection) before the end of January? When is the timeline to know that I wont be getting interview? THe thing is that, I work for two research laboratories and I need to plan my experiments ahead of time. So this interview stuff is kinda ruining my schedule at work.

I don't know what "SD" means. Sorry its late here and I don't want to think. If you're planning to drive, which some people I met at UOP did, they seemed fine but please please bring someone with you. God forbid you fall asleep at the wheel. I had a bad experience with that once. I flew and I was tired cuz i had to drive too but the main thing is try to get a good few hours of sleep in between your interviews and EAT! Eat a good breakfast!

Well you never know if you're going to get invites. My grades suck and I got invites to USC and UOP and got into UOP. I'm still waiting and with every day I get more and more anxious and scared. UCSD and UCSF hold their interviews from mid Jan to mid Feb and they have to give you at least 2 weeks notice. So based on that fact they should send out everything by late Jan, interview or denials. USC will let you know of yoru acceptance or waiting list in one month and so will UOP. UCSF will let you know by late march. Let me know if you got anymore qustions about travelling. You can Private message me or just post here...good luck...
