  1. Pre-Pharmacy
Hi,

I was wondering what my chances are in getting an interview with pharmacy schools within CA. Any advice and help will be much appreciated. I am really freaking out about applications right now.

Community College GPA: 3.5
University GPA (in CA): 3.3
(I know my GPA is not the most competitive but I had some personal issues I had to overcome)

PCAT score: 98 percentile

Experience:
2 months internship in two different pharmacies
summer internship at an optometrist office
Pre-pharm club
Class president for a couple years for an organization
Alot of volunteer hours

dang pretty good stats actually, which schools did you apply to?

did you actually work in a pharmacy setting? as a tech ?

Hi,
Tthanks.
No, I've been wanting to get a pharmacy license to become a tech, but some stuff came up and I wasn't able to. I'm applying to touro university, northstate, uop, ucsd, and western. I am nervous because I feel like majority of the people I read from SDN have alot of pharm or lab experience.

i think if you can get an interview at UOP, & you do well in your interview (make a good impression, connect & relate to the interviewers), you would get in. your stats are not BAD AT ALL. they're on the good side! i applied & recently just got accepted to UOP; their interview was super relax. i hear Western's interview is a bit harder/more strict. UCSD is all GPA based, so I've been told.

Are you applying this cycle? If so, you should do it ASAP. most CA schools have a Nov 1 deadline. and all (except UCSF) are rolling admission so you should submit asap if you're thinking of applying this cycle.

HI EleanorRigbyyy, I was wondering how your UOP interview was like and how long the actual interview was like. What did you do to prepare for it? Thanks

hi.

i just went over basic interview questions, mainly:
-what are your strengths & weaknesses?
-why pharmacy?

from what i remember, it was divided into 3 sections: interview (1 with student, 1 with faculty), presentation & campus tour, & writing section.

Thanks for the advicr! 🙂 how long was each interview section for you. Was the essay hard for you and was it pharmacy related?

each section was probably 40-45 mins.
essay was stupid easy, not pharmacy related at all. they give you an hour, i finished in 30 mins.

their interview is closed file, so make sure to bring up non-academic & non-pharmacy related things about yourself when they ask "tell me about yourself".

thanks! I'm not going to UOP though.

Why not UCSF. i think u should have a chance for every school in cali.
