On the application it states:
Currently enrolled in a school of pharmacy recognized by the board or accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmaceutical Education (ACPE)

Does that mean I have to wait until my pharmacy program starts before I can apply or can I apply now if I'm already accepted?

Any help from current CA pharm interns would be much appreciated.

There is a portion on the application that must be completed by the dean of your college. Usually, the office of student affairs will go over protocol for applying for state intern licenses during your orientation and when you can turn in forms to be completed.

Hope this helps and congrats on your acceptance!

I'm asking to see if its possible to submit your application early before you start school.

I tried to call the BOP, but they make it very hard to talk to an actual person that is knowledgeable on the matter..

Call 1: I navigate their phone system to pharm intern and get to an lengthy automated message that hangs up when its done.
Call 2: I thought I did something wrong so I retry it and get the same message.
Call 3: I press 0 to talk to receptionist. I tell her I have a question about qualifying for the pharmacist intern application. She transfers me to the same automated message that hangs up.
Call 4: I tell her I just called about the application and ask if I can speak to a person about this. She gets irritated and asks me in a rude tone what my question is. I tell her and she says I don't know and before I can say anything transfers me again to the same automated message that hangs up.

yeah interns are about as "bottom priority" as you can get with the board.

school needs to certify you're a student and that usually involves actually registering for classes before the registrar says "yes xxx is a student."

Usually they'll register you en masse at the beginning of the year (assuming your school is in CA).

Don't ever call the BOP again until you're 60 days past the date your check was cashed.

OP, is your pharmacy school in CA? If so, I heard from friends that their pharmacy school usually takes care of the intern license for them.

If you're out of state, you probably can't get your CA intern license until classes start, because you'll need the dean's signature for the application. What you can do is get started with your fingerprints (if you are going out of state for school). That way, once you start school, you just get the dean's sig, and mail in your app.

I'm from CA, and go to school in IL. Went home for Thanksgiving break and had my LiveScan fingerprints done, and didn't mail my application until Christmas break. Got my intern license two months after.

I did LiveScan, my friends used the cards and got them locally rolled...we both got our licenses roughly the same time.
