CA QME work

Hi all,
I am interested in CA QME work, specifically for Pain Medicine. I just passed the exam and trying to learn more about the opportunities available. Does anyone work for a good QME company who has efficient admin staff who take care of all admin work and transcribe reports ( summarizes test and imaging results and entire history ) so the physician solely focuses on the chart review, exam and assessment/ discussion? This will be a supplement to my current job. Thank you !

I've been with a handful and I like who I'm with now. The records are summarized, the history is taken, and I'm in zip codes that are in high demand. They pick up the phone and are open to fix things when they aren't perfect.

In short, many of the large players will get you ready to get off the group (Exam Works, MD Panel, Arrowhead). IMHO, they're fine if you don't want to do more than a handful of cases per month, don't want to travel, or don't want to get busy. However, once you want to streamline or optimize things to your liking then they feel too corporate. They couldn't meet me when I requested perks I thought were reasonable and so I left.

There are smaller groups but be careful. One group promised a 70/30 split but had no clinics really so a bunch of people left. Another one was basically funneling SIBTF cases to their friends.

Thanks for sharing your experience. It's helpful to hear the perspective of someone who's worked with both the larger organizations and smaller groups. Your point about the bigger companies being a good starting place makes sense, especially for learning the process and building experience. I also appreciate the warning about smaller groups that make promises they can't back up. It sounds like having strong administrative support, reliable case volume, and responsiveness when issues arise are just as important as the compensation split.
