CA to NY/NJ

5 years out of residency, working busy CA sites. Moving to NY/NJ for wifes job.

Wanted to ask if anyone had EM job advice for the New York, New Jersey area? Places to avoid?

Looking to live within commute distance to Manhattan for wifes job.

Also, any advice on using companies for NY/NJ licensing? worth it? cost seems to be about $800 just for their paperwork services in addition to licensing fees.

NJ licensure is about 1500$ when all is said and done(325$ just for application fee, 800$ for license, lots of other pieces etc...) fyi
