I'm now applying for CA1 on 2006. How competitive are these spots? More, less, the same as applying a year in advance? Do programs have specific dates to interview these candidates or do they interview the same days as everybody else? thanks

I'd say they are definitely more competitive. Less spots than the general match with many, many interested transfer candidates.

We have 1 2006 CA1 spot available and receive 3-4 calls a day for it. I don't know how competetive the applicants are, but I know we are not in any hurry to fill that spot. Thus one would conclude (although I just outright asked) the PD is looking at people with a little something extra in their corner. And a preemtive answer to a possible question is you will need to apply through ERAS. Wish you the best of luck finding a spot.
