Cal State L.A. - Anyone starting this fall (Sept. 2008)?

Hey Everyone,

My name's Chris - first time posting, but long time spectator of the MD vs. DO debates..lol

Just wondering... Is anyone else doing post-bacc at Cal State L.A. this coming fall?

I'm 24 yrs. old, graduated from UC Santa Barbara a few years ago w/ a degree in Business Economics ($hitty GPA - just barely graduated), and have been working as a Health Services auditor for the past couple of years.

FYI - I'm enrolled as a 2nd bachelor's degree seeking student, to both increase my UGPA and qualify for financial aid...

Anyone else out there?

From what I've heard, Scripps is a really good program....complete with linkage agreements. I would have preferred to go that route, but I have to boost my UG GPA.

Do you know of anyone who's been successful at doing the 2nd bachelor's program at Cal State LA?

I've been looking at the CSULA program as well. I know they have a formal post-bacc program, but I didn't know you could apply for a second degree. Do you just take the courses you want to take and then stop going before you've gotten a degree? Would I need to worry about all their distribution requirements and all that? I wouldn't want to be there more than a year.

I know. I actually live about 10 min. (max) from Cal State Fullerton, but they don't accept 2nd bachelors students 🙁

Also, from what I've seen in the past three weeks, CSULA is a HUGE commuter school. I've met some people who actually commute from the Temecula and Riverside areas (I have no idea why).

I'm kind of in the same position as you--looking to boost my GPA as well. How long do you plan to stay at Cal State LA and what type of classes are you taking??

I didn't know Cal State LA offered 2nd bachelor's.....I just moved away too. 🙁

I am also looking into CSULA's post-bac program. Does anyone know about the success rate? I am looking to boost science GPA in one year, and will have lots of time to take classes. thoughts?

I'm actually enrolled in the CSULA program. But getting the classes are so hard (especially since i just got accepted into their fall 09 bio 2nd bac program [i also have an econ degree from UCI]).

Anyone else going there?

hey, i thankfully got into the cal state la pre health certificate program, their postbac and i'll be starting this fall 2009. anyone else? congrats to getting in as a 2nd bac, with the budget cuts, we're all lucky!! when do you register for classes? i'm worried because all the classes are filling up so fast, damn budget cuts....

Hey guys I was I graduated a couple of years back with a degree in Finance and am looking to get into pre-dental school. What steps do I need to do to get into a 2nd bac program at csula? I'll assume I am already too late for the fall quarter but what about winter? I know budget cuts are a big problem right now.

Yea. I can't register my classes till sept 7. But I honestly doubt that it'll make a difference since most classes were filled by the end of the 2nd week within registering period.

Do we get priority next quarter? I really hope so.....

How much is tuition to the Post Bacc program here?

tuition is around 5k for an year, and I'm not sure if we'll get priority registration due to budget cuts...while UC still has those 200+ people classes. All 400 levels are pretty much full and I guess the only option is to look at 300 level, not sure if we can take some grad classes at 500 level?

I am in the post-bac as well. Since we really wont have any set meetings or anything all together, i thought it would be a good idea to share information and talk to each other. study groups, or whatever. i made a facebook group, its open for those who want to join.
