so, i'm attending cal state northridge to get my classes done, which is rather notorious for the lack of classes, now with the budget cut... gasp.. gasp...
my question is, how do you battle the onslaught of freshmen for intro science classes in the fall semester when your registration date is very late as "unclassified graduate student" in biology...
i will be able to get priority for spring semester, but it's the fall that i'm worried about, if i don't get 101 of the series in fall, then spring will be moot.
thanks for any pointers!

Ahhh... the joys of southern california (i went there for undergrad)...

You:
A) hope you get lucky
B) pony up the $3000 per class at a private school
C) apply to 4 or 5 other CSU schools and get ready for the lovely commute to make sure you get your class somewhere.
D) see if taking a summer session class in something will bump your registration date.

Call the undergraduate co-ordinator for the department and see what can be done. Lab spots are usually the most difficult, which is why they don't usually start until after the drop date, so you can probably be squeezed in as an extra with the understanding that if not enough people drop then you will be forced to. Also, you may need to be flexible about lab sections. I took a cell biology lab this way at Berkeley (as a grad student without registration priority).

Good luck!
