Which should I take as a pre-req for Med Schools and or Pharmacy Schools?
I've heard that most regular college physics courses are "are ridonkulously easy. get some numbers, memorize equations, and plug & chug."
But I've also heard that the calc-based physics explain what is actually happening and thus you learn to derive the formulas instead of doing the above.

Depend on what the schools ask for. I think most Med Schools and Dental schools require CAL BASED. Some Pharm Schools require CAL BASE but majority just need COLLEGE PHYSICS. I finished CALCULUS 2 (my schools only ask for CALCULUS 1) but only do COLLEGE PHYSICS 1. This course is like the Physics class I took in 8th and 9th grade back in Vietnam...Piece of candy

It depends on the schools. What schools are you looking at?
Schools around my area require Cal based.

Nich Khun 😉 yes yes! I'm more of Jun Su bias but in this pic, Khunnie looks so damn cute haha

I agree with the above posters...check the school's requirements. As a general rule for this and other classes, your bases will usually be covered best if you take the courses (or course sequences) required for science majors. These are the tougher courses, but are usually not disputed on a pre-req check.

Took both calc based. And Calc 2 and Analytic Chem; would have taken Calc 3 and Diffusional Equation. But I wanted to volunteer in the hospital pharmacy.

Honestly I had A- in both physics calc based courses (letter of recommendation too). Med school and Dental do not require calc based. Engineering does, 80% of my class were engineer majors. I took Physics for Scientists and Engineers.

And even if you take calc based, it's not such a big advantage over algrebra base for admissions into pharmacy school. Med students tell each other to take calc based because they have a physics portion on the MCAT (Better to know more about physics). Then again, Calculus was invented to solve physics problems...

At my school the non-calc course was leagues harder than the calc based courses.

Probably because of the professors, though.

well if consider the fact that calculus's actual purpose is to solve physics problems and then you decide to stray from that approach, it's quite obvious why physics becomes harder

Yup, what takes a physics algrebra base problem 6 steps to complete can be proved with 2-3 steps with calculus. Praise Sir Isaac Newton since he invented both Physics and Calculus 🙂.
