Hey, I’m a senior in high school and I’ve realized now that calculus is most probably going to bring me down in the next few years. I’m currently in AP Calc AB and I’d be lucky to pull off a 3 for the exam. I guess I’m just slow in grasping certain concepts and this is what scares me the most b/c I’m considering a Top 20 school for my undergrad and I think I’ll be lagging behind. Can anyone give me some advice/ ways to approach my problem? Any good calc review books I can start on over the summer?

I'm taking AP Calc BC and I'm getting an A+ so far. Here's what I suggest (also what I'm doing):
1) You Must read the book and understand literally every single word and every single diagram
2) Practice, practice, practice. I'd say about 10-15 problems a day (this is assuming you didn't get hw assigned that day)
3) Never cram, always do about a section or 1/2 a section each day at your own pace. I find it helpful to have the section read and understood to the best of my ability before it is covered in class. That way if I have any questions I can ask the teacher, and if not, hearing it again in class reinforces it.

I hope that helps, but if you need help with any concepts or anything else math related, feel free to PM me and I'd be glad to help 🙂

I was a math major in college, believe me I understand how ****ty the first few calc classes can be (if you keep going it gets a lot betteR).

My best advice is practice problems. Go beyond homework and do extra problems in the textbook. Check the internet to see if there is a solution guide for your textbook so when you do the problems you can use it to check yourself, or at least ask your teacher if you can get solutions to the problems because odds are he/she has it.
