I'm having a hard time determining my GPAs because I attended 4 different schools (transferred once, summer classes, and post-bacc).

Does any one know of a software or website I can use to do a preliminary calculation of my GPAs (cum. and science)?

they do use their own method, but you mentioned you wanted to get an idea of what your gpa would be. make an excel spreadsheet and figure it out (A+ = 4.33, A = 4.0, A- = 3.67, B+ = 3.33, etc). i dunno what a W would be, i presumed it would be counted as 0 for gpa points, but i was stoned for making a comment like that so I will stay far, far away from that subject.

Well, I dont think its a zero just because an F is a zero. I think a W offers some advantage over an F GPA wise, I'm just not sure what it is.

I think I'll contact my school advisor. She might be able to give me the exact method. If I find out I'll post it incase anyone else is interested.

First of all, a W on your transcript can be explained by many factor. It is a withdrawal and does not mean that you were on the verge of failing, you could have a very good reason for it, (ie. death in the family). So it is NOT used in calculating your GPA.

Secondly, I am under the understanding that dental schools calculate your GPA by averaging all of your courses, and for SciGPA, all of your science courses. If you took your classes at schools of the same or nearly same caliber, then that is how they calculate it. If you take classes at a community college, or a not so hot school, they may weigh them differently (like weighing a 4 credit A from a community college as a 2 credit A).

So, your grades are your grades and a W is not a grade, so it is not in your GPA.
