Hello! I'm sure you are all very busy comparing schools you were accepted at! How are you all calculating the total cost of attendance to incorporate inflation? For example, I have a school I'm considering attending where the tuition might be $100,000/year (tuition, fees, rent, everything). Tuition alone $66,000.

How much will these numbers increase WHILE you are in school? So, if I calculate the total (before interest) to be $400,000, should I add 3-5% due to inflation?

Thanks!

I would add the 3-5% to tuition and fees but leave out living expense, personal, etc. Perhaps someone can correct me. Also, I hope this doesn't become a lecturing thread...

I find that most schools are about 4%. Some schools are as low as 2%. You have to look at previous tuition hikes to really know.

Remember this is usually only for tuition. So up the tuition 2-5%(depending on school) every year. For the most part r should only be around an extra 4K-6k for IS and 8k-10k for OOS for tuition hikes.
