i've tried some of the problems in gchem and some
are impossible solving under 2 mins without calculator
like calculating pH of Ca(OH)2 with Ksp = 8.0 X 10-8

You get one calculator... but it's the one that is inside of your head.

If you have trouble answering a question, don't be afraid to break out your second grade math skills where you multiply stuff out long-hand.

Most of the chemistry problems won't ask you to work out the answer. You just have to plug the numbers into a formula and thats it.

then how come some practice problems aren't designed this way...
i spent alot of time doing those stupid multiplications.

What practice problems have you been doing? Most of the problems you will encounter will either be simple enough to do in your head, or they will not ask you to work out the calculations.

Yea.... I just got done with a sample test where I had to solve:
(4276/283)/20. I got .75 using mental math. Two answer choices were .72 and .77 .....

I think that this is a flaw of Kaplan in particular. Some of their gen chem/math problems have me thinkin, "there has got to be some kind of trick". But when I check the answer they are actually working out some crazy math.
