I decided that I would be qualified to take honors calc I this semester. I got a 37/100 on my first exam and I brushed it off since the final exam percentage would replace the lowest exam score. On top of this class I am taking organic chem I, general chem I/lab, film, english 2H, and tennis. Now I am the point where I would have to get a 100% on the final just to get a C in the class. That includes the lowest exam score being replaced. I just feel like I didn't listen to anyone and just overwhelmed myself. Oh and I travel to 3 different colleges for 22 units. I am also 2 years behind and I have been told that this shouldn't bother me but it does. Thanks for any advice that you guys can give.

I don't even...

Nope. The deadline to withdraw was November 16th. I was hoping to start calc-based physics in the spring so I didn't consider withdrawing.

clearly you decided wrong! Who let you do this? My advice is to fail the class gracefully, withdraw out of those colleges, think about what you are doing, talk to experts/guidance counselors/advisors, then re-enroll. This is one of the craziest things I have heard all week. What schools lets you take Organic 1 before having Chem 1?

don't listen to me either.

I took chemistry 101 and 102 over the summer at CSUN as a 12-week program. The gap between the courses was one weekend. As I was taking 102 for the second 6 weeks I found out I had not passed 101. I still ended up passing 102 so they approved me to take organic I at Santa Monica. CSUN would not have allowed me to take organic without first completing chemistry 101.

That's what you get for taking Calculus the same semester as Tennis.

Also, welcome to college.

I completely agree with mystifire. It's too late to withdraw so just finish the semester. Once it ends though you're going to have to sit yourself down and really analyze what you did wrong.

You might want to start by assessing your course load. Two chemistry classes at the same time? Not a great idea in my opinion.

The key though is that you figure out what you need to improve. Try to be as honest with yourself as possible when assessing your study skills, work ethic, course load, job/volunteer responsibilities ... need for tennis.

If you make changes for next semester and follow up with solid grades then you'll be fine and may even make for a good story to talk about during interviews.

As far as being behind don't sweat it. I'm 26 and I'm in my second year of college. Granted I spent 4 years in the military so at least I can say I did that, but never the less I felt the same way before. Eventually I realized that I found myself in college when the time was right for me.

The reason I took tennis was to have 6 units in order to get financial aid for CSUN. It ended up being a pain because I never got to eat lunch between tennis and calculus. Most of the days I ended up falling asleep during the calculus lecture and that has come back to bite me in the butt.

Are you kidding us!!?? So first you fail at successfully completing Chem 1 and 2 in an, correct me if i am wrong, intense 12 week timespan and then you STILL decided to enroll in 22 credits of courses over the semester. Yet you once again fail, at a class you felt "qualified" to take? So you have made this mistake not once, but twice, and you come on here asking for advice?

Listen, when you get a 37% on an exam you do not brush it off, okay? People who care about their grades don't act like that. You seek help, immediately, and kick your performance in that class into high gear. And.. KNOWING that I had already failed a class before, if I had recieved a poor grade in an exam in a class I am currently taking I would have seriously considered dropping it by the end of the semester to prevent two Fs.

I HIGHLY, HIGHLY recommend you seek a professional college adviser or counselor and desist from continuing to make course decisions for yourself.
