Hey folks,

Just wanted to get some feedback here, as I am about to get my
premises inspected.

I have both an AED and manual defibrillator at the clinic. I was reading through the inspection paperwork, and the phrase " biomedical technician " caught my (worried) eye.

How often do you folks calibrate your manual defibrillators? I bought my refurbished lifepak 9P in 2010, and it came already calibrated.

This premises inspection paperwork is sort of all encompassing / non-specific , as these inspections also occur at cosmetic surgery ORs , GI endoscopy clinics, etc.

Any thoughts or feedback would be much appreciated !

I'd cart the thing to biomed guy at your local hospital and have him review it
and 'sticker' the defibrillator.

I work at an ASC and all equipment must be stickered every year per ASC regs. Having the biomed guy at the hospital do it is a great idea. These guys are expensive

We contract with a local hospital biomed dept to come certify all our equipment, at least annually.

I called my local hospital biomed dept today, and I think they will be able to help me out. At a cost of $ 250 / hour. Ouch.

I've been reviewing my inspection ( a 33 page checklist ), and I'm almost set.

It seems like every year there is another hurdle to get over when it comes to interventional pain. Socialized medicine translation: gov't does not want MDs performing these expensive procedures. Or if they are doing so, they will make it as difficult as possible under the guise of " patient safety. "
