almost as sweet as the new north carolina statute.....supervision= 1 meeting to discuss the practice every 6 months with zero chart review and no on site md requirements. that's gonna drive mcgyver up the wall........BWAHAHA we are taking over the world 1 state at a time........
so what's the point of going to med school? i am not flaming, i respect PA's and the service they provide. if i wqas a PA i would be thrilled at this law b/c i didn't have to spend at least seven years training to do the same job that a doctor does.

Yeah, I'm Sure Folks Are Dying Left And Right Because Of This( Note Sarcasm).....
Go "pseudos"!

"BWAHAHA we are taking over the world 1 state at a time" with your supervising physician as your employer that is. Many PAs seems to forget that they can't start up their own practice. This also a good bill for doctors so they can have their PA do more work for them and pay them the same salary.
When I do in fact get a PA, I'll probably minimally supervise and give the PA alot of autonomy, as long at the PA earns enough for me to finance my BMW and Mercedes. BWAHAHA

*Sigh* Until your PA f-s up on your 'minimal supervision' watch and you get hit in the a$$ by that lawsuit.
Seriously, this mentality is why PAs/NPs are having expanded practice privileges...older docs want to make more money. In the process, they are f-ing up the medical system for the younger generations.

Once you have worked with a PA for several years, you'll know what their knowledge base is and what their limits are. I don't see anything wrong with giving a PA added responsiblities if you are comfortable and trust the PA. The PA in turn should know what their limits are and ask for help when needed.
Most of these PAs who are getting minimal supervision are the ones that have been in practice for 5+ years with the same doc who has knows the PA very well. NO idiot would give an newly graduated PA that kind of responsibility or even a seasoned PA with whom a Doc just hired.
I don't see how this is "f-ing up the medical system for the younger generations." If anything, it helps provide health care to patients who the Doc wasn't able to see anyway. I'm sure you wouldn't be complaining either if your PA, you trust, was able to do more and could do more to help finance your new house, car, third wife, j/k 🙂
Hope you read the sarcasm there.

Yeah, but if I don't want to be a small-business owner, I just want to practice medicine... then hmmm, once again the question comes up. 3 yrs plus optional residency, or 4 yrs plus 3 in residency... the longer I work as a tech in an ED, the more I wonder.
