after the naplex (national exam), then you take the law exam which also contained clinical stuff (CA MJPE), here it's different because it contained CA law stuff 🙄 and it's harder for some

but i dont have to take another naplex? its all the same i can transfer my naplex score there ?

thank you for your reply

yeah, you take the naplex one time, and then the law exam for the state that you want to work

CA is different because they don't reciprocate--they want an original NAPLEX score.

This means that if you graduate now, get licensed in another state (let's say NY), and a few years down the road decide to move to CA...you can't just send CA your NAPLEX score from NY. You would have to retake the NAPLEX and send that new score to CA. The easiest solution is the very first time you take the NAPLEX, send the score to CA (as well as NY and whatever other state you are going to get licensed in), even though you might not get out there for a few years.

So after they get that orginial NAPLEX score, you just need to take the CA law exam and you're all set. Just keep in mind that even though it's called a law exam, it is very clinical. It is sort of like a mini-NAPLEX...that's another way CA is different.

that was a great anwser to my difficult question, so then i have to retake the naplex again?

Yes, you would need to retake it if you have already taken it (at any point in time--10 years ago, or just yesterday) and did not send your score to CA at that point.

you are saying the first time i take the NAPLEX, to send the scores (score transfer) to CA

can i apply to take the boards at the state of my pharmacy school and score transfer to CA (let's say i take it in april)

then after i graduate i can apply to the CA boards to take the LAW part this summer?

someone in an earlier thread i posted said i should just apply to the CA board after i graduate and take BOTH the law and NAPLEX this summer......

Huh? How can you take the boards in April if you don't graduate until May?

Some states will let you sit for the NAPLEX prior to graduation with a note from the Dean stating you're expected to do so. Of course you aren't officially licensed until you graduate...but at least you've gotten the exam out of the way.

Wow, that's interesting. To answer the original question: I don't know if CA does this. I haven't heard of it before, so my guess is no. I think you would have to wait until after graduation to receive approval from CA to test.

Hello all, this is the link to CA p'cy board's webpage that talks about out-of-state pharmacists wanting to get licensed in CA. The PDF file says its effective Jan 1, 2004 but I downloaded it just today from their website so I assume that they haven't changed the rules.
Hope you find this helpful!
Good luck!
