Hello

First and foremost, NO SELF NOMINATIONS. You will not be considered or replied to.

Every now and then we like to add new members to our Moderator volunteer staff. Moderators are stewards of the forums that provide level headed, respectful advice and commentary to other members while also performing various administrative functions. However, many of our best contributors are often overlooked when moderator positions open up due to the fact that they do not draw attention to themselves. We have chosen to place out a call the SDN community to identify "hidden gems" among our contributors. If you have had many positive interactions with a certain member, please consider pming me his or her account link and any thoughts you might have on why this person would be a good moderator.

Moderators should:
1) Have a history of positive, helpful posts in the pre-allopathic forum
2) Be active, long standing members
3) Not be known for posting off topic or inflammatory content

Rules (Please read or your nomination will not be considered)
1) NO SELF NOMINATIONS
2) No soliciting of nominations/trading nominations
3) No advertising who you are nominating (please keep this anonymous)
4) One nomination per user. Please do not send us a long list of individuals, think of the one person that you are shocked isn't a moderator if choosing between many.
5) Do not nominate people with already existing roles on SDN (SDN advisors for example).
6) Your nomination will be accepted silently due to the volume of PMs expected. Please do not follow up or send additional messages beyond the first.
7) All nominations can be PM'd to me (mmmcdowe) directly. Please do not send multiple PMs to other moderators.

Thank you for participating!

Probably helpful to put a definite "end date" on submissions so you don't get PMs till next year. :p

I'm surprised LizzyM, Goro, or Catalystik don't have at least some sort of honorary mod status, considering how much they've contributed to SDN.

Edit: oop just realized they already have advisor roles. I still think they should have superpowers though.

1. Are good mods pre-med or in med school already typically?
2. What are their responsibilities/ what kind of access do they have?

Thinking about who to nominate. Thanks!

I've been anxiously refreshing SDN every 20 minutes or so in anticipation of my PM explaining that I have been chosen as the new mod. No such message has arrived yet. How much longer will this election be going on? I'm not sure I can stay up much longer.

Usually senior pre-meds or beyond but there are always exceptions.

Even if they were pre-meds, hopefully they aren't for very long!

Some of us made a poor choice in username that put us in a rather unfortunate predicament...

Not an election. We periodically evaluate forum needs and if there are strong and interested candidates we bring them on board. Takes time.
