Call from Western?

I was interviewed last saturday (Feb 5th). I'm wondering if any of you lucky guys/gals got a call from them yet??

I called and asked them when the admissions committee would be meeting to go over the applications of those who just interviewed on Saturday (i was there), and she said they are meeting at the end of the month so we won't know until like March.... 🙁
 
Serious? In a month? How do they remember who was who? ughhhh Did they happen to tell you how many seats were left?

No, I didn't ask.

But also, it's on us to stand out during the interview. We all look the same on paper but that's why we have the interview. It's our chance to shine.

Then again, I was the very very last person to interview so I would be freshest in their mind. Sorry dude lolol jk.

but I made myself known during the interview. I talked it up with the dental students, the admissions people, the people who interviewed me. I mean I stood out too because I came all the way out from NJ. And they couldn't find my nametag for 3/4 of the day. And I had on a light grey suit vs. everyone else's black. So things like that, etc. Lol

Maybe that's why they do it so late. So they know who really stands out to them a few weeks later. Like the applicants they remember are the ones worth getting accepted? haha just kidding!!!

But if anyone does find out how many seats are left, please let us know! 🙂

Yes she said around 40 seats were taken so far...so we have around 30 spots to compete for...
 
I interviewed there as well this past Saturday. Who did you ask about the 40 seats taken? The girl said we are the 4th and 5th rounds and they will send out acceptances for the 3rd round on Feb. 15th. I was wondering if the 4th round is the morning group and the 5th round is the afternoon group? or morning and afternoon groups are combined to be 4th and 5th rounds?

The chubby lady that was talking about the schools curriculum said that they had given out around 40 spots already...
 
She said they sent out about 100 acceptances, but only 40 put down their first deposit. And Ms. Monehan is a very nice lady. Nice way to talk about somebody who's part of the Adcom at western and part of the school you want to go to..

WOW wow let me get this straight. she said acceptance for people from previous interview will be given acceptance first and then you guys? and im pretty sure you guys were their 5th or 6th interview

I remember you but not for the reason you think. You had a horrible attitude and sounded way to over confident (just like you do here)... dont sound like you are better than everyone else that was there that Saturday... you did not stand out more than anyone else..your grey suit will not get you in to dental school...and just because you came all the way from NJ wont make you special either. In this process people fly from all over the country to their interview. That saturday we had people from Texas, chicago and Utah... This is a tough process for everyone, and people have worked really hard to get were they are today..keep that in mind

wow, can you have anymore attitude?
I was just trying to give some information I was given. Now if I didnt remember her name at the time, that shouldnt be a big deal.

My bad, I apologize. It's hard to get the tone people use over the internet. Gets lost with the paralanguage you know .. 😳

And about the other thing, I was just trying to use examples because I think that sometimes it is the little things that people remember about others. And that was my nervous, "put my best foot forward" kind of personality. I've been described as a "strong personality" in general and maybe it was just more than usual because like everybody else, I wanted to give a good presentation of myself and stand out. And my stats are average so I want to do well on my interviews. I was just way excited to get an interview offer and have a chance to check out a Cali school, etc. But that's also my personality and that's who I am.

I understand how hard the interview process is for everbody, I'm going through it as well. I was mainly trying to point out "different" things, not saying I'm special because of x,y, and z and that I'm a better candidate for that. And I just joke around.. a lot. But I mean, it worked. People, such as yourself, remember me.

I interviewed Sat as well, and no word yet. However, I too was told that we wouldn't be notified until the end of the month. 🙁 Anxiety is killing me. At least I have a couple other interviews to keep my mind off of it for a week!

We all looked great, and no matter what happens they'll create the class that works best together to grow the Western family.
 
So one of the guys we interviewed with on saturday texted me last night. He said he got in and found out in person. I guess he is doing some kind of post bac work there...
 
So basically they already know who to accept already from saturday's interview? I thought that they will have a meeting at the end of the month to determine who to accept?
 
Does that mean they will start calling people soon for acceptance? Do you know who were his interviewers?

I just checked my app status on Western's website. It says "complete ready to process". Does this change? What does your say?
 
It says the same thing. I guess we just have to wait and see.

Where do you check the app status for westernU? When I sign in to my acct, it doesnt have the DMD program for me to choose. Can you provide the link for the status webpage?

After you login to your secondary app. Click on your app "Fall 2011" and it should list Application Type/Application Status etc. 🙂 I just discovered it a couple hours ago myself. Lol
 
fyi, it's still "complete ready to process" for me and i got accepted to western in january. even when invited for an interview, it never changed.
 
just got the phone call ... accepted ...
 
So they started calling people already from Feb. 5th interview?

I don't know but I don't think that means it's an automatic waitlist or a rejection. I'm sure there are still plenty of acceptances to be handed out, they just probably have a lot of applicants to go through since they did a lot of interviews every week. 🙂

Hang in there, today's only the first day they've started contacting anybody. 🙂

Got an offer as well, I interviewed in Jan. 99% sure I will be attending Temple however. 👍

Got the call yesterday from Dr. Andrews (who interviewed me)... I'm in!

I am still on the fence between Tufts and Western. I put down my money and everything for Tufts and I plan on Tufts but I think Western is amazing. I don't know what to do!!

Not much, although Western is slightly cheaper in terms of tuition & living expenses. But then I would have to take into account gas for transportation (since you need a car at Western), and flying back and forth from the 2 coasts for every holiday/break (if I decide to go back and forth that is)...

what to do what to do. *sigh*
