If I were to call the admissions office of a school that I'm wait-listed at asking about wait-list movement and the number of spots in the class left, would that make me look worse, better, or the same? I just wanted to get some opinions on this before I do it. I know people have done it in the past.

I am assuming most people are doing this or already did it.

Most of the waitlist movement that was going to happen has likely happened. I am not sure it would help or hurt at this point.

I called and the only thing I was able to get out of them is an offer to meet with the deans or directors of admission. Did one of those yesterday.

Do it anonymously and they'll never know.

At this point, waitlist movement is dependent on people getting acceptances elsewhere and withdrawing their acceptance. AKA it's difficult/impossible to predict.

I did this and was more or less told to write a letter of intent which also addresses the low sGPA
