Hi Everyone!

Anyone interested at presenting at the 2008 Annual Meeting for the National Association of Medical Examiners (NAME), should be reminded that the deadline for abstacts is pushed up to March.

The meeting is in September in Louisville, Kentucky.

Furthermore, anyone interested in training in forensic pathology in Boston, let me know. I will be remaining on staff and am very interested in recruiting good applicants. We are filled next year ('08-'09) and most likely the year after ('09-'10).

Finally, why has there been NO forensic chat????

this is part of what bugs me with pathology fellowship applications. the programs are filling over 18 months prior to starting the fellowship! that's craziness! i'm an MS4 and already i'm thinking about what i may need to do to make myself ready to possibly apply for forensic path fellowships in 2012-2013... come on, that's nuts that i have to do that!

in any event, mindy, i certainly won't be ready to present anything by this september, but could you please share the dates for the meeting? depending on where i end up i may be close enough to louisville to attend some of the meeting, and i'd be willing to use a vacation day or so to do it. perhaps i'll be able to present something at the 2009 meeting.

Hi:

The Annual Meeting is 9/5/08 - 9/10/08 at the Seelbach Hilton Hotel.

See the website:

www.thename.org

mlw: I know its a bit wacky about the fellowships, but planning ahead, getting to know people, and having options early on is worth it.

Arctic Char: In the 7 or so years I have been an SDN member, no one has EVER commented on my sig before!!!! I am so impressed (and glad there is another who feels the same!)

thanks for those dates. i'm glad it includes a weekend, so i may not even have to take a day off to attend some. i put in on my calendar and made a not to try to get that weekend free of call when i'm contacted about schedule requests post-Match. and i agree it's worth making contacts early.

on a related topic, Mindy, do you think Dolinak's text is a good introductory FP text for me to purchase? i'm doing a FP rotation next month and i want something to read in the evenings about what we're seen that day, and Dolinak, from my perusing, seems much readable for someone at the MS4 level than is Spitz and Fisher.
