Yale Med is my dream school... I think that we are a great fit. However, I have been complete with them for 5-6 weeks and still have not heard from them for an interview. For those with you who got interview invites, how long did it take?

I really would like to get an interview from them. Do you think there is anything I could do?

thank you all for your advice.

it took them about 2 mos for me, but that was last year. sounds like things might be a tad slower this year.
good luck anyways.
it's an awesome school.

and no, i wouldn't recommend you do much but sit tight. i know it's hard, but patience definitely comes in handy in this process.

6 weeks isn't that long. i did stuff very early, and i waited more than that. i had my secondary done and LORs sent in by the last week of july, and didn't get an interview invite until the last week of september. maybe it's the cold weather, but i guess they (pretty much every school i've dealt with) move slow up in the northeast. just gotta have patience.

5-6 weeks for me too... i'll start worrying if I don't get anything by Christmas...

They were a little faster with me, I got an interview invite 3 weeks after I mailed my app and check (2 weeks after being complete, maybe, I didn't check the webpage), but that was back in late August, before the strike. From the other Yale-related threads I've seen recently, it sounds like they are really backed up now, I wouldn't worry about not hearing from them yet, it's definitely possible that your app hasn't been reviewed yet.

I don't know of anything you can do about getting an invite (unless your Dad is a Dean there, or something, and can pull some strings), except write a really compelling answer to the "Why Yale?" essay, which I imagine you already did, if it's your dream school.

Good luck to you. it's my dream school, too, and after the interview, I am even more in love with the school than I was before I visited. 😍 sigh... It was one of my first interviews, and, if anything, visiting other schools has made me realize even more why Yale is the place for me. they say your first love's your hardest love... here's hoping Yale loves us as much as we love Yale... 😍

Thank you for your feedback. IT is so hard to wait, especially for the schools you are totally into...

I imagine it woulf take some time before I hear from them. Especially, since first it is later in the process and also because the nu,ber of applicants is up this year. BUt, how much longer would you recommend that I wait?

and for those of you at Yale, any feedback on the school, program, interview etc?

I was complete on Aug 21 and I just got off the phone with them. "We have many current students that received interviews in Feb and March of the application year."

meaning be patient, you still have a shot. we interview well within feb and march?

I would say mean things about Yale...but fava already gave me a swift kick in the arse about that (even when I wasn't really insulting Yale).

Yale rocks, sit tight.

😍 you fava

That's it. She said that she knew it was very nerve-racking, but that I should just relax and things will be fine. OK, I guess.

Uh, Yale decisions aren't sent out until mid- to late-March. That would be a very late Valentine's Day present, unless you're referring to something entirely different.

one of the reasons that I am concerned is the fact that my mcat score is not stellar. the rest of my application is amazingly good. i spent some time at yale as an undergrad eventhoug my sat scores sucked, compared to the regular yale students. it looks to me that yale is looking pass scores, although they would like to see compelling intellectual promise in one way or another. for those of you have interviewed, or been accepted, at yale--- what do you think on this matter?

Yes, I think that Yale looks past the scores. My MCAT isn't amazing, though it's not bad, and I was complete mid-Septmeber and offered an interview about 2 weeks later. So it's not all MCAT for them.

Good to know...I have that same problem....

Good luck to you all:clap:

Thank God other people are in this same position - I knew they had all my stuff as of about a month ago, but was only "complete" on the website 12/2!!!

Yale is my dream school too, I've been salivating over it ever since I was deciding where to apply. Since my b'day is 4/1, a Feb-March interview would be an awesome early gift🙂 I don't know if I can stand waiting that long...

it seems that waiting comes with the interview territory, guess also part of being a future MD. I guess the waiting process time has been up this year. It seems that we are all wondering, how long is too long??? When does time become a bad sign??? Is med school selection a random process?
