I am trying to pick date and time to take my test but do you guys think it is useful for me to call each test center and verify if:

1) I am able to use the 15 minute tutorial to draw grids for PAT section. I read some threads lately about not being able to do anything during the first 15 minute tutorial(which I can use to draw grids for PAT).

2) I will be provided with scrap paper or laminated sheet and if they are erasable or not.

thans

I don't think you need to call your center. Prometric Centers always follow the same protocols to prevent one testing center from being "easier to test in" than another. To answer your questions, you will be able to use the 15 min tutorial to draw grids for the PAT section. You will be given your sheets right before you start the tutorial. For your second question, you will be provided with two laminated sheets which aren't exactly erasable. However, you can use your own saliva to erase the marker from the boards pretty well. Your fingers will become quite dark though, but the marker ink washes out easily with soap and water.

Thanks. But I just saw one thread where he/she was not able to use the 15 minute tutorial. I will be dead for the PAT if I can't do this.

Really? When I took the test last year, my Prometric proctor told me that all testing centers allow their students to use the 15-minute introduction tutorial however they want to. I don't see why we can't use the tutorial for our needs, it's not like anyone is cheating or anything. Well if that's the case, then definitely do call. Better to know everything before going in!

Yeah, I took my DAT yesterday and they did not allow it. Very rude and condesending. Ruined my mindset with the exam having to discuss it with them for 5 minutes right before my exam. Very upset with my score.

CALLLLLL!!!!!!!!! my test date got messed up somehow and prometric didnt even have me down for taking it even though i got a verification email and i had to wait an extra month to take the DAT. just double check and ask whatever you need

So even after registering online, I should call to make sure that I am registered?

lol wow.

I just called one of the prometric centers and the lady sounded clueless.

The questions I asked

1) Am I going to be provided with dry erase boards or laminated sheets during the test?
she said she can only tell me that the day of the test and that we will be provided with "materials" on the day of the test.

2) Am I going be allowed to use the 15 minute tutorial to use the materials provided?
she said she is NOT sure...

great....

I think at this point don't worry about testing center conditions....and focus on your DAT prep...also if you know someone who took DAT at the same center ask them what they were provided.

Everyone I knew (including myself) were provided with two laminated sheets with two non erasable (wet erase) marker..mine were fine point ones.

check your markers before you enter the exam hall.

You can exchange your sheets during your schedule breaks for new ones.

I never asked them if I can use 15 min break to setup my laminated sheet..neither they mention anything ...so i prepared my sheet for PAT part during my tutorial.

Can you exchange laminated sheets during the test? what if we run out of space during the test?

thanks.

you can but it means you are losing time waiting for new sheets..my center told me "I can come out and exchange the sheets" but the test clock will keep running and every sec on that test is precious....I would recommend you practice with two sheets only during your prep time..each sheet you can use front and back...then exchange it for RC and QR in your break.

How big are the laminated sheets? also I was told by someone that we can use our saliva as an eraser to save time? lol

they are about A4 size (regular printing paper) ....yes its easily eraseable with saliva but if you practice with two sheets back and front you will be fine ...like i didnot need sheet in bio other than for genetics questions which took up 1/8 of sheet...then I used it most for genchem which took one whole side...used the remaining portion after bio for orgo and you don't need much space for orgo...that saved me one whole sheet for PAT and i setup only one side of sheets all 15 3X3 grids and cube counting tallies....that left me with one side blank ...when i was practicing with destroyer I was using full two sheets (all sides)...also i didnot use any for RC...but used both my sheets for QR it was hard 🙁
