CAM and C4 Photosynthesis

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
This topic is definitely fair game...I'd make sure you at least grasp why they exist (to avoid that O2 problem) and why they differ from each other and reg. photosynthesis (spatial and temporal differences...use of PEP..etc.)

Anything in bio is fair game. I had so many random questions on my DAT. I was asked about how fungi were classified and the purpose of the fertilization membrane of a jellyfish. Just solidify what you know and you'll do fine.

I know that C4 uses Malate and CAM uses Malic acid as a product, both use PEP carboxylase. But what are the obvious differences? You'll find both in dry, hot environments so I am not sure what is the distinguishing factor here.
