Cliffs states " At this time, malic acid is shuttled out of the vacuole and converted back to OAA (requiring 1 ATP to ADP), releasing CO2 ."
How does going from a 4C malic acid to a 4C OAA release a CO2? This doesn't make sense. I know it requires 1 ATP but the carbons don't "add up".
