I was reading up on the Navy AEGD program at Camp Pendleton and was curious about the phrase in their description about being assigned. (see below) Does this mean that you may be assigned outside the Camp Pendleton area after your 1st year even though you usually get 3 yr orders? If so where do you go?

"The first year is devoted to the program and the following two years, interns will be assigned to an outlying clinic with opportunities consistent with operational dentistry."

There are 13 dental clinics all over Camp Pendleton. Camp Pendleton is around 400 square miles. You'll usually get shipped out to one of those clinics. That being said, I know of two residents who got shipped out beyond CP's base. One went to Miramar in San Diego a very nice place to be. The other went to Yuma, AZ, not so nice. While unlikely, this is possible because these areas (along with Twenty-nine Palms) are all a part of the command at the 1st Dental Battalion.
