Can a 4.0 GPA and a 490 MCAT get a pre med biochemistry student in to state medical school(Texas)?

-2 year summer internship ~600 patient hours
-OR shadowing
-2 semesters of research lab
-about 100 hospital volunteer hours

I am awaiting my new MCAT scores but just want to know if I have any options as of now?

I know nothing about the Texas schools or their process but you do understand a 490~19 on the old scale, right?

How does one have a perfect GPA in biochemistry but a 19 equivalent MCAT. Did you adequately prepare for the exam?

I was just beyond nervous. I prepared but not as much as I should have. I'm hoping I significantly improved this time around.

A 490 MCAT is not acceptable for any MD or DO school. You need to retake the MCAT after your practice scores are consistently at least 505 and then apply next June.

If you have a 4.0 gpa I would expect you to hit at least 508 (80%). If you want to remove all doubt you should aim for 512+ on your retake.
