Hello everyone,

So I got my mcat score back today and unfortunately did 4 points lower than my FL average. I already submitted my primary to a throw away school and am deliberating whether to apply this cycle or not. If I end up applying, I can still send in my application to the schools I want since my mcat score isn't as low to be denied a secondary, however, it may delay interview invites. So my question is, If I submit my application to all the schools I wanted to apply with my current mcat score and then retake the score on July 25 (Aug 26 result date) or Aug 1st (Sept 3rd result date) can I still apply assuming that my retake is on par with my FL average. My main query is whether the new mcat result will be late for interview invites ?

For reference, I am a trad applicant (rising senior) and have pretty solid ECs and substantial research. However, I am as low of a SES as one can be and my only option of pursuing MD are scholarships which are only possible at the T20s. I wouldn't mind a gap year but would've loved to apply this cycle (again finances) but on the same point, I want to put my best foot forward.

Just apply, you will be fine. Scholarships are not only possible at T20s and usually it is not your MCAT score that gets you a scholarship at those programs anyways, it is experiences and need based. Additionally, the research from AMCAS has shown people who retake your score median is the same but with a large SD. You are much better off focusing on your secondaries this cycle and making those great than scoring 3 points more on your MCAT. Honestly no idea how people can even study for their MCAT and do secondaries, the burnout goes crazy.
