Is is possible for an exotropia to become an exophoria after a period of over-minus lens wearing??

As far as I know....

Using an over-minused lens will just result in more divergence than is necessary. For this reason, the vergence target plane will be further away, which WILL in fact slowly build up PRV strength.

With this said, the factors that cause a tropia are generally due to the pattern of neuronal cleaving that takes place up to about age 10 or 12. The strabismus that is manifesting the deviation found in the tropia has, by the time of adulthood, become ingrained into the neurology of the pt. So, to my knowledge, a young patient may be successfully given VT in this form and see an improvement in the tropia (say 13 BI down to 6 BI correction). But, an adult may not be successfully treated in this manner, and simple prismatic correction will be a better option than deliberately over-minusing an adult with the further vergence side effects this may cause. I hope this helps.
