Can adcoms request or see college LOR's?

This sounds like a fishy question but allow me to explain. I have a LOR coming from a professor who wrote one for me when I applied to college. It was a fantastic letter and it undoubtedly helped me get in.

While he's written me a new letter for medical school, it's more of a list of what I've done rather than why I'm unique from other candidates. I think his college LOR was much more pertinent to why I should be a physician.

Can we use his original letter? Or reword it with a few add-ons? Or is that a bad idea? Something tells me adcoms don't care about what college LOR's said.

I'm pretty sure they'd never see your college LOR's and wouldn't try to.

They wouldn't care about your recommendations from high school....for the same reason they don't care about anything you did in high school. The 21+ year old version of you is and should be a much different package than the 17 year old you. If you don't think your professor's letter is good enough, don't use it and find another one instead.

I consider this professor to be a friend of mine so it's not like I wouldn't use his letter. It's just he was just on the right track the first time around.

Now that I think about it, there's no reason he can't write the same letter over again.

Thread delete!

I didn't have recommendations from high school! But it's not that I think it isn't 'good enough' it was just more a listing of my accomplishments. Adcoms will read my resume so they don't necessarily need that.

If the professor who wrote you the college LOR has given you a copy of his Med School LOR, they you should close enough/comfortable enough to bring the subject up to him since he felt comfortable enough to let you see both. Show him the original college LOR and see if will do a rewrite for you.

To be clear, I was more just wondering if someone would at some point have both letters in their hand and see they were essentially the same.
