Can anyone critique my personal statement?

After literally months of writing and editing, I finally have a PS that I don't think is totally terrible. I was wondering if anyone out there in SDN land would be willing to critique it? My PS is the one thing missing from my application. I would like any feedback any skilled writers could give so that I can get it up to speed, and get my primary out to schools as soon as possible.

Thank you very much!

I'll take a look at it if you'd like, just send it to me in a PM. I've helped edit a lot of essays and personal statements in the past few years.

Have you tried the people on the Official readers list? PM/Email them they will be willing to help.
I will take a look. But I am generally very critical. I will look for sentence structure, main ideas, themes etc. Just PM me.

i'm happy to look as well. (though i'm applying now, so i may not be as "expert" as people who've already been admitted 😎)

yeah, not so much. i sent mine to about 7 people, one of whom responded.

I could help you with grammar and structure.

Yup that has happened to me too. Mods should put a disclaimer in that thread that even though the readers are volunteers they are making a commitment. They should either tell ppl that no I cannot read it at this time or comment on the PS once they agree to help. Saying that yes I will take a look and then never turning back a commented PS is not very polite.

As always when dealing with an anonymous internet forum, caveat emptor. We certainly hope that anyone who puts their name out there to be contacted for PSs will honor that commitment, but we don't really have any way of enforcing it. Last month I did contact all of the readers on the list, removed the ones who asked to be taken off, and moved the ones who didn't respond to a special list indicating that they hadn't been heard from recently. Today I went ahead and took those off of the list entirely, so hopefully everyone on the list should be willing to read at this point.

As people volunteer to read, they are added to the end of the list. If you contact readers near the end of the list, you might have better luck. But make sure you aren't looking at the temporarily unavailable list.

I also agree that contacting readers at the bottom of the list is likely a good idea; however, after the housecleaning I did, hopefully everyone who's still on the list should be willing to help.

Thanks for cleaning up!!! 🙂

Hey you can send it along in a PM to me too. A ton of people read mine and I'd be happy to return the favor.
