Can anyone identify this (possibly orthopedic) piece of surgical equipment?

I'm a veterinary surgical assistant and found this piece of equipment loose in one of our surgical bins. Does anyone know what it is and for what it is used? No-one at the clinic (doctors or techs) can ID it. Thanks very much!

It looks like a very large version of one of the parts in our TPLO pack, but the un-identified part is far too big to be used with it.

It has a flat end, so I doubt it is supposed to penetrate into bone; maybe it could join two pieces of metal together. Could it be a hinge screw from a two-armed instrument (rongeurs, scissors, pliers, etc.)?

Clicked on the 'wrong' forum and saw your post...

I'm fairly sure that it's the top of a special type of bone screw that allows for angled placement. For the life of me I can't remember the technical name for it; so I can't find a really good picture or link for you. Sorry! However, I did find the picture below. At least it shows what I think your piece is used for...
