I wanted to refresh up on some of my chemistry knowledge and wanted someone to recommend a good Intro Chemistry textbook, preferably one that is sold along with a solutions manual to problems in the text.

Thanks.

"Chemistry: Matter and its Changes", by Brady and Senese. We used this in our intro chem class and I thought that, with the exception of a few chapters, it was well written and clear.

I've also heard good stuff about Raymond Chang's text.

I like Zumdahl's Chemistry book. Everything is explained very clearly.

I've been reading Chang's Gen Chem book. I read chapter one of another text (forget which) and couldn't make heads or tails of it. Then I read the same material in Chang's book and it made complete sense...was explained so much better in my opinon. It does give answers (only to the even numbered excersizes oddly enough) in the back of the book, without explanation. Each section has about 3-6 example problems right there in the text that immediately give solutions with explanation.

What exactly is the difference between intro to chem material and gen chem material? Because the gen chem books I've looked at seem to start right from the basics and assume no prior knowledge.
