Can DO's sign outside

    Can we sign into allopathic prog outside the match... is that possible???? or do we have to go thru the match???

    as of now...yes...you can sign outside the match....but it shouldn't be something to count on

    Most allo programs still have you go through the match.

    You're not too likely to find anything terribly competitive that'll sign people outside of the match.

    Yes, you can sign outside the match as a D.O. But, as other posters mentioned, it is rather uncommon. Most programs prefer that all USMG's sign through the match. IF you elect to sign outside the match, invest $300 in having a lawyer look over your residency contract and sure that both sides are on the up and up. It will be money well spent.
