I was made temporary PIC while my manager is on maternity leave and I didn't have a choice in the matter. I really didn't want to be temp PIC.

So in the last month, with floaters and increased script count, the store has been getting poor scores. The main the the dm is looking at is ready when promised and that doesn't give the whole story. The dm is telling me that the techs are probably not performing because that's what the floater has been telling her. I guess our wecare has been poor.

On top of that, it's flu season and people have been sick so the call offs are high and we've been using too much overtime.

Can I lose my job over the store performance going down?

They can fire you over anything. It all depends on how easy it is to replace you. Assuming you’re the only regular pharmacist there, I highly doubt they will fire you.

It's weird that RWP is even being looked at anymore considering WeCare isn't a measured metric. Unless something has changed since I last worked for the company three weeks ago that was the last I understood. So to answer your question.. yes, you can be fired for poor performance. But they can't just get you with a snap of the finger. They need to document you properly, just like you would a technician. I forget the actual term that's used.. if they put you on some type of development plan that is when you know they're coming for you. Because if you don't follow that development plan and improve on whatever they want you to improve on, that is how they can start to get you out of your position.

But that is years down the line. It's not something that happens in a year. And besides, if you're "engaged" and showing that you care about your job and the company they won't come for you. If you have a piss poor attitude and they can see it it'll be easy for them. Good luck, I know it sucks.

@mydogatemysuboxone27 that's what I thought about RWP and wecare but my dm is using that to say the floater is doing better than me. Except she's not taking into account that my score goes down when I check stuff they leave that is red. Plus on days when I work the whole day, it goes much smoother. Even the techs are starting to tell me that they dread when the floaters come in because it gets hectic.

I definitely do not want to be PIC ever. This sucks balls.

Do they not have the floater feedback forms anymore?

It sounds like that floater is tired of being a floater and they're trying to throw you under the bus because flu season is hard.

Is the floater a new grad?

Service metrics go down during flu season.
Big whoop.

Your dm knows that.

Time for you to start bringing the heat on that floater

i doubt they'll fire you, it seems that you're the only guy they've got left. otherwise they wouldn't have pushed this temp PIC position on you, they're desperate

you may want to confront this floater. if you do though, don't hurt her, or him. she may be a new grad and is just settling into things, probably mid 20s, nervous, and not confident. generally though good luck

It's not a new grad .It's a guy that worked in mail order and was given the choice to float or lose his job so he's floating.

Edti: I almost wish it was a new grad because they are generally way better than the older floaters.

Is it normal to change PICs for maternity leave? Just curious.

I hope you at least got a raise out of this. Obviously your DM doesn't really recognize 'temp' tag, neither will BoP.

Our super made me temporary PIC when our stores PIC went on maternity leave.

It is a new thing with the redistricting in my district. Unfortunately I got stuck with my old pharmacy sup who decided it's now required. I only know because someone went on maternity leave last year and their staff pharmacist didn't have to change titles. I did not get a raise as far as I know.

It truly does suck, sucks you're going through it. The only thing I can suggest is use the MyCustomer surveys and compare them from the days you worked vs the days the floater worked. Then you can shove that in your District Leaders face and tell them to suck it. And BTW, is your Leader a previous DM or SUP?

I believe that if the PIC is away for longer than 3 weeks (?) you have to have a PIC change, do a controlled substance inventory and the whole she-bang

It’s nearly impossible to get fired from CVS. Besides you’re just holding the spot until the former PIC returns from maternity leave. Just show concern and a can-do attitude. You can’t turn a store around in 12 weeks.
I would observe and document inefficient practices, bad habits, etc. Share those objectively with the DM

Doubtful given your situation. Just do your best with what little you have; focus on the what metrics are worst (others will likely take a slight dive).

This is a good opportunity to know why not to be PIC & try to hone what little to nil management skills you have
PIC is a huge scam. It's never worth it unless you are trying to get to CEO status. DM's don't even need a PharmD so you lose your exclusivity advantage. No barriers to entry = more stress per a dollar earned. PIC will give you more job security but it's not worth the small increase in money and massive increase in stress.

Older floaters are generally **** and act like they know everything but leave a mess for others to clean. I snitch the **** out of these dinguses.
How do older floaters even exist? you should have your own store by 30. Are these the worst of the worst pharmacists that no one wants?

They are usually ancient part-timers who are covering far-flung stores where it's hard to find coverage, at least for CVS
