Hi, I've heard that the calculating systems that each service uses to convert the foreign GPAs are different.

However, only some of the school's web sites mention about WES. 😕

If either one of the two systems is advantageous, can I just CHOOSE wich one I'm going to use when I'm reporting my GPA ?

Thanks in advance, dudes... 🙂

Some schools accept both WES and ECE. BUT most schools accept only ECE. So pick your poison...wisely.

Thanks.. for the advice ! 😀
Can anyone answer this, plz ? I found many of the indian dental students (since most of the applicants that I've seen are from Inda) have very good GPAs.
What % from the top do you have to be at to achieve, ... say 3.5 ?? in Inda ?
I'm a student from Korea and wow some of the grades like 3.7~3.8 are the ones I can't even imagine that I can reach... ( may be the top of the class would have something like 3.6 )
These are all out of total 4.0 aren't they?
I know all the Indian doctors are very smart and intelligent, and that's probably why I see so many people with good grades, but do you think there is a grading difference that makes larger number of students get higher GPA s, compared to schools in my country ?
After deciding to study in america, I got really concerned about my low GPA. May be it's that I didn't do hard enough during my school. I wish I had good grades like you ! 🙂

go to the schools website where u want to apply..most of them need course by course evaluation from ECE, some might take WES, but it depends on what the school needs.

Good Luck

Hi guys,

I came to know that GPAs by WES evaluation are more than that of ECE.
eg: if one get gpa by ECE - 3.2, same gets 3.8 OR even MORE by WES.

My doubt is some schools are accepting both wes n ece, then those who got ece will have less gpa than those of WES (though their credentials are low according to ECE), don't you guys think it will be a prob for us.

Do schools consider the gpa according to the type of evaluations like wes or ece or simply they look at the grade that we have?? 😕
If it is "yes" then should we go for both the evaluations???🙁
Any input will be appreciated...

I am wondering as we all know WES gives better GPA then ECE, wont the schools also have an Idea about that...They must be taking that into consideration as well............

Yes, it is out of 4.0

But do not think that all Indian Dentists achieve that high level. I am Indian too and we were evaluated on a scale of 200 and 75%= 150/200 was considered a very high achievement.

I dont know exactly how the evaluations are done, and what exactly they consider.

But dont break your head too much about GPA. A low GPA can be compensated w/ high NBDE score, a good resume, great essay among the others.

Thank you for the reply Le fea.
I guess I'll do my best in the other scores, from now on !
Good luck to you, too !! 🙂

La fea and other forum members,
please tell me wat % from Indian universities, would yield atleast 3 ?

I wonder how many end up with 75% , which means a distinction with honours . What about people who score slightly less than 70% ?

I really dont know.
My Indian over all % is less than 70 and yet my GPA is 3.83 but my buddy's GPA 3.56 and his % was slightly more then mine.
Go figure😕😱

Actually dont. GPA can't be changed. So you are better off worrying about other things- NBDE, TOEFL etc.
