The narrative for my app is focused on healthcare education in low-income communities because of my own experiences growing up in such communities. During my gap year I am doing AmeriCorps, and have recently began work on creating a healthcare education program for grade-schoolers in an underserved county. I’ve drawn up the curriculum, recruited help in different regions of the county and am currently working with political leadership in these towns and professors at my university to begin piloting the program. However, it is too soon to tell if the program will be a success.
Can I mention this in my secondary to answer a “what are you doing in your gap year” or in a “why our school” question (for schools that value healthcare education), or should I wait until it’s farther along to disclose?
