Edit:This is for DO schools only

I am taking the MCAT Sept 9th, and I will have already submitted a primary application to one school before I get the scores back that way AACOMAS has verified everything. However, I'll have my scores back by October 9th, or 10th. I am worried getting the MCAT scores submitted by mid-October will hurt my chances significantly of an acceptance. I know technically it's not too late, but I am a bit worried. Below are my stats if that helps. Thanks all.

GPAs:
cGPA:3.73
sGPA: 3.61

Volunteering:
VA Hospital patient Transport Volunteer (50 hours)
Assisted Living Resident Activities Volunteer (156 hours)
Hurricane Harvey Mission Trip in Nederland, Texas (40 hours)

Shadowing:
100 hours; good mix of primary care and specialists

Leadership roles:
Pre-Med American Medical Student Association (PAMSA) Officer (126 hours)
Department of Chemistry peer leader (85 hours)

Clinical Experience:
Resident Care Aid and medication technician at assisted living memory care facility (1000 hours)

I am only going to describe this experience because the title might not be so self-explanatory. This was my old job. I will explain only this experience. I prepare/dress residents in the morning for the day. I assist them with toileting, showering, dressing, and grooming. If a patient transitions to a near-death stage, I will spoon-feed them and assist in their care.

I am currently an Ophthalmologists scribe (1000 hours)

Moved to WAMC.

You would be better off waiting the cycle. It is starting to push it in October and we do not know what your score will be. High MCAT scorers are usually the ones who can apply in Oct and get some interviews later on. One applicant shared their experience this past cycle and ended up on WL’s since the classes were already full.

If you do get a good score, it would be better to wait so you can also apply to MD schools.

Please come back to this thread when you get your score and also share your state of residence.

I made the edit just now but this is only for DO. I don't think I can get into MD, based on what I have seen from rejectees on here, reddit, and then looking at MSAR Data. I don't have and cant get research experience.

I don’t know what data you are looking at but there are many people who get accepted to an MD school with a 3.6 and say a 510 MCAT. You haven’t even taken your MCAT yet, so you can’t rule out MD. And many of those who were rejected applied with very limited clinical experience, which you have an extensive amount of.

You did not share your state of residence, but many state schools strongly favor taking their own residents too. So it is a smaller pool.

Yes, go ahead and apply. You probably only need 500 to get in, which shouldn't be a problem

I would wait a year because your service orientation is not evident in community service activities outside of clinic, based on what you described. You need at least 150 hours to avoid getting screened out, and more will help with mission fit. You also may have to plan for Casper or PREview.

Stop comparing yourself to other applicants.

The F? Schools seriously care this much to check boxes to the point you get screened out?
