For MD schools in the states, your GPA is too low combined with your slightly below average MCAT score I'd say getting in would be tough. As far as the Caribbean goes, it is a possibility.

For DO schools, your GPA is a little low, but your MCAT is significantly higher so I think you would stand a good chance. Shadow a DO.

not sure if you mentioned what state your in?

an MD acceptance is certainly not impossible, while your stats are below average and you are a little late I still think you can make it happen. I would apply as broadly as you can 15-20 schools and I think you have a chance.

for DO schools an acceptance is much more likely as the above poster said, I would hesitate to go to the carribean because its 1) expensive and 2) there is a high attrition rate.

Goodluck

Your GPA and MCAT are below average, but they still give you a fighting chance. Your EC's look good and publishing a paper is great. If you are dead set on MD, you will really need to apply to a lot of schools to have a moderate chance. The AAMC says that you have a 27% chance of acceptance. As such, I would apply to many more schools than the average person would. If you have the money, this means 30+, and limit the dream schools.

If you are okay with DO, then I would focus there. You have a good chance of acceptance at a DO school. Realize that they are generally more expensive, but you will be a physician either way. Don't consider Caribbean. Good luck.
