Somehow I managed to fail our big all covering physiology test this term. Not too surprising as I am a pretty lazy person and probably was bound to run out of luck sooner or later.

Is physiology doable in just five weeks? I have a summer job at about 50% that takes some time and on top of that I need to overcome my usual laziness. I really dont want to have this hanging over me when Pathology starts this fall. It feels like Im searching for some kind of magic pill to solve both my laziness and my physiology test. Any ideas?

Make a plan and stick to it. Something like 1 system per week. You may or may not have time for your job, that depends on your laziness.

Wont you get dismissed if you dont pass the remediation?

Maybe keeping the job is not such a good idea.

How badly did you fail? If you were close, then it's basically a 5-week review session and make-up for the exam you failed.

Geez man, are you sure you want to work this summer job? I mean, if you fail the remediation, doesn't that mean you have to take the course next year with the first years or re-take all of first year again? That would really, really suck.

Hopefully they don't kick you out of school if you fail again 🙁

There is a review book called 'core concepts in physiology' by lippincott...a skinny book...it is AWESOME...you can finish it in a few days or so...it tells you everything you'll need to know for physiology...so if you don't have time, you can read that...

I thought the physio BRS was horrible unless you're studying for step 1...personally...

Oh yeah and use your job for motivation...it will get your a$$ out of bed on time every day... so you won't be tempted to sleep all day long... and when you come home and are tired, FORCE yourself to read out of that lippincott book i told you...you'll be done with it less than one week...and you'll know everything you'll need to know... then get old test questions from your school... ASK YOUR PHYSIO PROF for help...

hope this helps u...later 🙂

Thanks for the tip! Do you know where i can get it? The only one i can find was printed in 1998 and is only availible second hand. Is that the one? Im anxious to get it asap.

I wont get kicked out yet anyway. At the med school at Lund University you get five chances before they do anything, and that is considered harsh here in Sweden... Its probably extremely unusual that people get kicked out, most medicine students are very high performing here just as in the US. My problem is that I got in on the Swedish equivalent to the SAT and never had to work in School before this. Thus Im having trouble adjusting to actually having to study at home.

I will go outside now for a while. Its a sunny and warm day here in southern Sweden, perfect for reading renal physiology and drinking Cuba Cola (not communist I think) at the terrace. 🙂

I also cannot study at home a large amount of the time. I force myself to go to a place outside my home. The library, a coffee shop, etc. It gets me out of my house and away from my distractions (TV, internet, etc) and allows me to buckle down and focus.

Sounds like you need to think long and hard about what will happen if you DON'T pass physiology in 5 weeks. That should be all the motivation you need. Get your bottom out of bed and beat that monster down, else your academic progress committee will be you down. Know what I mean? Even if they are slack and don't kick you out, do you really want to be the guy that has to take physio over and over again? It is kinda important after all. Perhaps consider ditching the job. You won't need the extra cash anyway if your studying all the time 😉

No offense... well I don't care, take offense.

If you are that lazy, drop out. No one wants their life entrusted to someone who'd rather play Xbox than pass their classes. Sounds harsh? Wake up and smell life once in a while.

Buy BRS Physiology, memorize the whole thing. 5 days is probably enough for that. And you've got 5 weeks. This is not just doable, it's a piece of cake.

I'm not sure but I guess you're going to find out.

Study, Study.
